Ms. Mydland

I’m still getting used to being addressed as Ms. Mydland or Ms. M as  my younger students say...every time I hear those words a tiny piece of me lights up.  It took me countless hours of lesson plans and too many licensing exams to count before I could be addressed in such a way. So it’s a good feeling when that time comes.  I may not be teaching the subject I thought I would but that is fine by me. I’ve learned more from my ESL students the last year than I did in any college practicum.

One thing they don’t teach you in school is the impact you are going to have. Tonight, while at school conferences, I was embraced by a 7 year old running full speed towards me with open arms yelling "Ms. M, Ms. M I want you to meet my mommy" Now I tell you what, seeing someone that excited to see you is something that can make even the grouchiest of people crack a smile. So tonight brought me endless amounts of heartfelt introductions and I couldn’t be more appreciative.

I know few professions that can bring as many opportunities for smiles, laughs, imaginations, hugs, and stickers like teaching does. Yeah sometimes I have difficult days but each day brings at least a couple grins and giggles. I know you can't get those feelings from sitting behind a desk, starring at a computer screen. So tonight I just want to say how thankful I am for having a job I truly love.

How lucky am I?

Puppy love
The weekend is officially over and I can't say I’m that upset about it. Yesterday, while getting my oil changed, I was informed I needed to buy four new tires! Ugh! Besides buying a TV these tires have been the biggest purchase I’ve made thus far in my life.

So, being I just spent a wad of cash on new tires for my vehicle and am having school conferences this week, I will be staying with my family in Flandreau. Cutting down on my driving is not only better for my budget but it will allow me an extra 20 min to sleep in!

My Flandreau family lives on a cattle farm where they have a few farm dogs. I have recently fallen in love with their yellow lab. She is so sweet and always greets me with a very welcoming wag of her tail. This makes my little animal loving heart melt. She makes staying a couple extra days a way from home a lot easier!
How can you not love her?

Politics

Bottom line. I love elections. I enjoy seeing people get so passionate about the wonderful country we live in.  On the other hand, I could definitely do without all the negativity.  I mean , aren't we the UNITED states of America?  either way, I thought it was a "win-win" both candidates would be great leaders. I'm just excited to see what the next four years has in store.
On a side note, my body is  still adjusting to day light savings. 9 has been my bed time lately. I think I'm turning into my mother
Any one else having this problem?

Allen Stone

Here are some pictures from my fun weekend in the cities. Tara, Chrissy, and myself got up bright and early Friday morning to head to the MOA. While there, I found myself purchasing yummy smelling perfume instead of clothes!!! What's wrong with me?

Any who, The concert was AWESOME! Mr. Allen Stone sure has some pipes! and
I'd say the whole weekend was a success with the exception of a lost Iphone and some lip gloss.
I'm so glad I got to spend it with such wonderful people!

Here's a short video!

Daddy's little girl

Growing up I spent most of my summers at the Renner baseball diamond. I loved catching foul balls, running around the park, and eating peanuts. Although my days at the ball park have become less frequent I still love to watch and hear about my father’s baseball adventures. He has a whole group of baseball players that I think he and I would consider family.

My father and his baseball family headed down to sunny Florida to participate in their annual baseball world series.  Not only am I jealous that he's in Paradise but I'm also extremely proud. He has never stopped playing the game of baseball and it’s something I without a doubt admire. It’s amazing to watch someone have such a strong passion for a sport.

I don’t know if my father realizes the impact he has made on so many young boys lives. He has giving countless young bucks the opportunity to play this game he so loves. By sharing with others his passion he was able to become a mentor and a friend to so many others. So no matter the results of this tournament, I want him to know how remarkable he is! And I will always be his little girl!

My dad rockin’ his SD Rushmore attire cerca 1980 something! What a babe!

Gut rot

Well I’m sitting in my classroom this morning regretting every piece of chocolate candy I ate yesterday.  I decided to indulge a little bit on yesterday’s holiday. ..and by a little I mean A LOT! Talk about a stomach ache. I just couldn’t resist all the yummy treats that were presented in front of me.  I swear I’m quitting chocolate!
Here are a few pictures from my friend Jodi’s little Halloween get together.  We had a wonderful time eating (way too much), playing card games, and handing out lots of candy to the trick or treaters!
I will be spending my morning trying to recuperate from my candy coma! Bring on the tums!
Here’s a little ear snack for you!
Whoooo Allen Stone Tomorrow!

Blisters

Gosh Darn it, today I got a stinkin' blister.  I mean C'mon, I wear these boots like they are going out of style and for some reason they must have rubbed my tootsies the wrong way. Oofta. Walking around the classroom was not as easy as usual. The short distance from my desk to the students felt like I was running a marathon.
Thank goodness for bandaids!...and Allen Stone!
